Authorities indicate that on August 8, a fatal crash occurred when a motorcycle and an SUV collided in Lubbock for unknown reasons. According to reports, the crash happened sometime before 12:30 in the afternoon at East Loop 289 and East 50th Street.
Investigators say the SUV was traveling north on Loop 289 when the crash happened. The motorcycle was heading east on 50th Street, and the two vehicles collided in the intersection.
Officials confirmed the motorcyclist, 41-year-old Justin Fields, suffered critical injuries. His passenger, Deloris Halpain, sustained severe injuries. Both were taken to an area hospital, where Fields passed away on August 10th. The SUV driver and her teen passenger reportedly sustained minor injuries.
