If the allegations here are true, there could be more to this story than people may realize. As open-and-shut as a drunk driving accident may seem, there could be an accomplice who needs to be called out: a negligent alcohol provider.

In Texas, bars and other similar establishments are prohibited from serving people who are obviously intoxicated. Doing so potentially exposes those alcohol providers to consequences if that person’s intoxication leads to people getting hurt. That way, there can be accountability for the negligent establishment’s actions, and steps can be taken to ensure they clean up their act before more people get hurt.

Perhaps that isn’t what happened here, and this all comes down to a single driver’s reckless actions. But if authorities believe alcohol contributed to this accident, and they didn’t find out where that alcohol came from, they may be getting only half of the larger story.
