With alleged drunk driver accidents, it’s important to know if authorities are looking into where the driver had been drinking. In Texas, alcohol providers can be responsible for contributing to these accidents, as well. If they unlawfully over-served someone, and that led to an accident, the alcohol provider can potentially face criminal investigations, fines, or liability for the victims’ injuries.
Too often, though, this all goes overlooked. I’ve handled hundreds of cases against negligent alcohol providers. Authorities tend to move on once there’s a driver for them to charge. Meanwhile, there could be a negligent bar or store continuing to put the community in danger. Holding them accountable is a surefire way to get them to clean up their act.
That’s why it’s important in these situations to know how thorough authorities are being in their efforts. Victims and families deserve to know that all parties who had a hand in harming them are being held accountable. That’s not likely to happen if investigations begin and end at the crash scene.
