Amarillo, TX — December 6, 2023, Juan Jose Flores Jr. was killed as the result of an 18-wheeler accident that happened around 10:50 p.m. on Lakeside Drive.
Preliminary details about the fatal truck wreck indicate it happened just north of the intersection of S. Lakeside Drive and the westbound I-40 service road.
Authorities said in initial statements that 21-year-old Juan Jose Flores Jr. was in a Chevy Camaro going southbound along Lakeside. It’s alleged that the Camaro was side by side with a Ford Mustang going the same direction, and both cars were described as going at high speeds. Approaching the intersection, it appears an 18-wheeler pulled out of the Toot ‘n’ Totum/Valero lot across southbound lanes. It was then that both cars crashed underneath the trailer.
As a result of the collision, Flores sustained fatal injuries. The driver of the Ford apparently had minor injuries. There were no other reported injuries due to the crash. Right now, no further information is available pending investigations.
