Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
There’s always an inherent challenge simply finding out what went wrong after a workplace fatality. On top of that though, it’s important people recognize that Texas has the most complex work fatality laws of any other state in the nation. There isn’t always a guaranteed path to get workers’ families benefits following a fatal accident. That means they could end up in a legal maze they weren’t prepared to navigate.
So as important as it is to wait for answers after these kinds of accidents, families fare best when they take steps as early as possible to learn what comes next for them. Their situation might be a lot different than they assumed, so understanding their rights is a prudent first step to getting them a just resolution on top of getting answers about what happened to their loved one.
