Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
When accidents like this occur, people often assume they result from simple driver error. However, in my experience, crashes involving large trucks often involve more complex factors that require thorough investigation.
When an 18-wheeler rear-ends another vehicle, it’s crucial to examine the circumstances leading up to the collision. Questions about whether the truck driver was following at a safe distance, adhering to speed limits, or dealing with potential distractions are all important. Additionally, it’s essential to consider whether the truck was properly maintained, including the condition of its brakes and tires, which are critical for preventing rear-end collisions.
If the Freightliner was operating under a commercial trucking company, the company’s role must be scrutinized as well. Companies are responsible for ensuring that their vehicles are in good working order, their drivers are properly trained, and that they enforce safety protocols rigorously. Any lapses in these areas could indicate a broader issue of negligence, which might have contributed to the crash.
Ultimately, the goal is to uncover the truth and provide answers to those affected by the crash. Even if it requires conducting an independent investigation to obtain vital evidence, it is crucial to consider every factor to ensure that those impacted by the crash receive the clarity and closure they deserve.
