How Did This Accident Occur?
When vehicles traveling the same direction collide, investigations will usually show that someone was on their phone or going too fast. Perhaps that’s what happened here. But even though things like vehicle defects or roadway issues may be less common, they still deserve attention. Otherwise, something important might slip through the cracks. Once that happens, victims and families understandably tend to be skeptical of the official investigations.
Simply put, if people can’t feel like their side of the story is being told fairly, they’re likely to seek out alternative avenues for getting answers. Sometimes, a secondary investigation will just confirm authorities already touched on everything there is to know about a crash. Other times, they can reveal new information authorities missed or correct mistakes authorities made in their assessments.
Either way, it’s reasonable for people to want to know that they’re getting the full story and they’re not being treated like a bad guy. If authorities can do that on their own, that’s good. A lot of the time, though, that requires independent investigations.
