Washington County, PA — June 3, 2023, Joseph Smetanka Jr. was fatally injured in an 18-wheeler accident late Saturday along Route 40.
According to initial details provided by authorities, the crash happened at around 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Route 40 and Anderson Drive in the Amwell Township area.
Officials said that 60-year-old Joseph Smetanka Jr. was on a motorcycle that was going eastbound along Route 40 at the time. While doing so, details suggest that a tractor-trailer was making a left turn to get onto westbound lanes of the highway. The two vehicles crossed paths as a result, and the motorcycle and the truck collided.
Smetanka ultimately succumbed to fatal injuries due to the crash. There were no other injuries reported by officials. No further information can be confirmed at this time as authorities continue to investigate the exact cause of the crash.
