Houston, TX — January 31, 2024, Joseph Acuna and another were injured following a car accident at around 11:00 p.m. on Jeanetta Road.
Authorities said in preliminary statements that the crash happened at the intersection of Jeanetta Road and Pagewood Lane.

According to officials, 26-year-old Joseph Acuna and a 35-year-old woman were in a Hyundai Sonata going westbound along Pagewood. Acuna reportedly stopped at the 4-way stop sign, then proceeded across Jeanetta. While doing so, however, a northbound Ford pickup allegedly ran the stop sign and crashed into the side of Acuna’s vehicle.
After the crash, Acuna and the passenger in the Hyundai had injuries described as serious. Statements indicate there were two occupants in the Ford that failed to stop and render aid. Details suggest authorities ID’d the vehicle involved in the crash, but it’s unclear if anyone has been charged in connection with the accident.

If first reports have their facts straight, my hope is that authorities knowing details about the vehicle involved means they’re able to track down the driver. Generally speaking, if someone leaves the scene of an accident, it’s not usually due to fear of consequences for the crash itself. It’s more often fear of getting caught for other mistakes. Sometimes it’s warrants, other times it’s drugs or stolen property, and drunk driving is also a common possible factor—especially this late at night. If authorities are still searching for the driver, it may be helpful for locals to come forward if they know something, that way there can be appropriate consequences for a crash that could’ve turned fatal.
