UPDATE (April 9, 2024): Recent reports have been released which clarify some of the details concerning what occurred leading up to and during this accident. According to these reports, 40-year-old Jose Hernandez Patlan was on foot attempting to cross Lamar Boulevard from west to east in the vicinity north of Longspur Boulevard. At the same time, a Chevy Colorado pickup truck was traveling northbound in the right-most lane of Lamar Boulevard, with a second vehicle traveling in the lane directly to its left. Officials indicate that Patlan narrowly missed being struck by the other vehicle, but a collision from the pickup truck could not be avoided. Patlan incurred reportedly fatal injuries as a result of the accident. The investigation continues.
