As concerning as these initial statements are, OSHA investigations don’t always tell the whole story following a fatal work accident. Simply put, Texas work fatality law is more complex than in any other state in the country.

Despite what people may think, there is no guarantee that a worker’s loved ones are going to get the resolution they deserve following an accident. Sometimes, they can find themselves up against companies whose only priority is to avoid responsibility. Meanwhile, OSHA’s priority is to find potential violations and issues appropriate fines.

So who is there to prioritize the needs of the victim’s loved ones? That’s usually when there has to be effort from independent professionals who can navigate the legal maze that is Texas work fatality law. It’s entirely possible to get a grieving family a fair, just conclusion following a workplace accident. However, that’s not likely to happen for those who sit around assuming authorities are going to handle everything on their own.
