After any single-vehicle wreck, it’s important to know whether or not police considered all possible factors. Frankly, it’s the kind of wreck that isn’t often high on their list of priorities. So when something unusual contributes to a crash, it can easily slip through the cracks.
For example, I had a case not long ago where a vehicle crashed, and authorities pretty much just chalked the whole thing up to driver error. But after more thorough independent investigations, something new came to light: a vehicle defect. The victim’s seatbelt had a defect that led to them being thrown from their seat despite wearing the seatbelt properly. Regardless of what caused the crash, it’s likely the victim’s injuries were caused by the defect.
I’m not trying to suggest that happened here, but it’s something a proper investigation should be able to rule out. If authorities here didn’t go beyond the surface, it’s possible there’s more to this story they let slip through the cracks.
