Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

When people hear about crashes like this one, it’s easy for them to assume they are a result of simple driver error. However, in my experience, accidents involving large trucks often require thorough investigations to understand all contributing factors.

In this incident, the circumstances leading to the crash are still under investigation. It is essential to determine why the Freightliner truck failed to control its speed and struck the farm tractor. Factors such as mechanical failure, distracted driving, or even improper load securement should be considered. Each of these elements can play a significant role in accidents involving large trucks.

One critical aspect of this accident is the severe impact and subsequent overturning of the farm tractor. The force of the collision suggests that speed and possibly other factors contributed to the severity of the wreck. Investigators need to closely examine whether the truck driver was following all safety protocols and if any external factors, such as sudden obstacles or road conditions, played a part.

Additionally, the trucking company responsible for the Freightliner may share in the responsibility for the accident. If the company failed to enforce safety protocols, properly train their drivers, or ensure that their vehicles were in good working order, they could be held accountable for their role in the crash.

Ultimately, the goal is to uncover the truth and provide answers to those affected by the crash. Even if it requires conducting an independent investigation to obtain vital evidence, it is crucial to consider every factor to ensure that those impacted by the crash receive the clarity and closure they deserve.
