Abingdon, VA — August 27, 2024, Jeremy Roberts was injured as the result of a runaway trailer accident that happened late Tuesday.
Initial details say that the incident happened during an equipment delivery in Abingdon at around 8:30 p.m.

It appears that 41-year-old Jeremy Roberts of Greenville, TN, was on a hill working at the time. While doing so, a trailer with a hay bale spike on it may have experienced a malfunction, and it rolled down the hill into Roberts and a worker. The worker was pinned while the spike reportedly impaled Roberts. He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, but it appears Roberts was in stable condition.
Right now, no further information can be confirmed.

With a situation like this, it’s important to know what steps investigators are taking to get to the bottom of things. Sometimes, when there’s a mechanical issue that leads to an accident, people can write off the whole situation as unavoidable. Sometimes, though, it’s the result of a manufacturing issue. That needs to be examined by specialists with the right training and tools, otherwise something important may slip through the cracks. Perhaps this situation is different, but in my experience, authorities aren’t likely to conduct investigations that meet that level of rigor.
