Orange County, TX — July 25, 2024, Jasmin Strada and one other person were injured in a truck accident just after 10:00 a.m. along State Highway 62.
According to authorities, 38-year-old Jasmin Strada was traveling in a southbound Nissan Altima on S.H. 62 in the vicinity south of I.H. 10 when the accident took place.

Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, an eastbound Kenworth 18-wheeler with a trailer in tow failed to yield the right of way as it exited a private drive and attempted to turn left in order to head north on the highway. This resulted in a collision between the left side of the truck’s trailer and the front-end of the Nissan.
Strada suffered reportedly serious injuries as a result of the wreck. A 35-year-old man who had been in the truck sustained moderate injuries, as well, according to reports. They were each transported to local medical facilities by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
When accidents like this happen, it’s easy for people to assume they stem from simple mistakes or misjudgments. However, based on my experience, crashes involving large trucks often involve multiple factors that need thorough investigation. This collision is no exception.
At first glance, it appears that the truck driver may have misjudged the traffic as they attempted to turn left across the highway, failing to yield the right of way to the Nissan Altima. Left turns involving large trucks are particularly risky because of their size, slower maneuverability, and the wide arc needed to clear the intersection. The question investigators must answer is why the truck entered the highway at an unsafe time. Was the driver distracted, did they miscalculate the gap in traffic, or were there other factors—such as poor visibility—that contributed to the crash?
If the 18-wheeler was operating under a commercial trucking company, it’s also essential to explore whether the company’s safety protocols and driver training were adequate. Ensuring that drivers are properly trained to handle these types of situations is critical, as failure to follow safe practices can lead to dangerous collisions, like the one seen here. Additionally, the investigation should review whether company schedules or expectations placed any undue pressure on the driver to rush or make risky maneuvers.
Ultimately, the goal is to uncover the truth and provide answers to those affected by the crash. Even if it requires conducting an independent investigation to obtain vital evidence, it is crucial to consider every factor to ensure that those impacted by the crash receive the clarity and closure they deserve.
