Dallas, TX — November 13, 2023, James Michael Hemby Jr. was killed following a motorcycle accident at around 6:00 p.m. on Northwest Highway.
Preliminary information provided by authorities indicate that the crash happened off the corner E. Northwest Highway and Mediterranean Drive.

Authorities say that 43-year-old James Hemby Jr. was on a Kawasaki motorcycle going westbound along Northwest Highway. From oncoming lanes, it appears an eastbound Ford F-150 attempted a U-turn where prohibited and allegedly did so unsafely. As the driver attempted the U-turn, Hemby’s motorcycle crashed into the side of the pickup. Hemby died as a result.

Right now, the exact cause of the accident is not officially confirmed to the public. One thing that did stand out is authorities saying they were waiting on a toxicology test from Mr. Hemby. To be clear, this is usually just standard procedure in a fatal crash. It’s not necessarily a sign that authorities think that driver was intoxicated. But what stands out to me is they make no indication that they tested the driver of the pickup. Maybe they were able to definitively rule out drunk driving on that driver’s part and simply didn’t say anything about it in their statements to the public. But what I’m seeing here is authorities saying a driver made an illegal u-turn into the path of a motorcyclist, killing the motorcyclist, and the only person they mentioned doing testing for was the deceased victim. If that’s where their investigation ended, that just doesn’t sit right with me.
