Galveston, TX — July 8, 2023, James Butts was injured by an alleged drunk driver around 7:19 a.m. at 53rd St. and Avenue U in Galveston.

According to officials, the victim’s Volkswagon Taos was stopped at a stop sign facing south at 53rd St. and Avenue U when it was allegedly rear-ended by a Ram 1500. The Ram 1500 then purportedly continued through the intersection and collided with a fire hydrant and a utility pole in the southeastern corner of the intersection.

Mr. Butts reportedly sustained serious injuries, while the Ram 1500 driver was reportedly uninjured.
