Panola County, TX — June 12, 2023, James Alton Youngblood and another driver were injured after a semi-truck accident at around 12:52 p.m. along U.S. 79.
Initial statements about the crash say that the incident took place in the area of U.S. Highway 79 and F.M. 9.

According to officials, 88-year-old James Alton Youngblood was in a Nissan Quest traveling eastbound along the highway. From oncoming lanes, it appears that an 18-wheeler approaching another vehicle from behind swerved left to avoid a collision. This reportedly led to the 18-wheeler going into oncoming lanes where it crashed into Youngblood’s vehicle.
As a result of the collision, Youngblood sustained injuries believed to be incapacitating. After the collision, the 18-wheeler ran off-road and overturned. The truck driver also reportedly had incapacitating injuries as a result. Right now, there are no additional details about the crash which can be confirmed.
