Collin County, TX — November 4, 2023, Jalun Branch sustained fatal injuries in a single-vehicle accident at around 3:03 a.m. along U.S. Highway 75.
Investigators said in their public statements that the crash happened on northbound lanes of Central Expressway at the Bloomdale Road exit (42 B).
Authorities reported that 24-year-old Jalun Branch was in a Honda Civic going northbound along the Central Expressway. While going toward the Bloomdale exit, the vehicle apparently crashed into the barrier. This ultimately resulted in fatal injuries.
Right now, the exact cause of the crash cannot be confirmed.

One detail authorities mentioned is that there were crash attenuator barrels at the exit, but they were damaged due to a previous collision. I wonder how long they’d been like that and whether or not they could have been replaced before this incident happened.
I certainly can’t say what difference impact barrels would have made regardless, but it’s not the sort of detail I see that often. Maybe it’s just the investigating officer trying to be thorough, but it could be a sign the lack of barrels is a particularly significant factor here. It would take a lot more information than what’s publicly available right now to say for certain.
