What’s particularly frustrating about current reports I’m seeing is that they’re not consistent. Initially, everything I saw claimed that an 18-wheeler failed to stop and crashed with the victim’s box truck. Now that the victim has been identified, I’ve seen some sources blame the victim instead of the 18-wheeler. Did authorities clarify their preliminary statements? Are the more recent reports mistaken, or were all of the original claims mistaken?

One would think details surrounding a serious crash like this would warrant being extra cautious when reporting the facts. It may surprise folks to learn that even serious wrecks don’t always get the attention they deserve. I can’t begin to count how often I’ve had calls from families who relied on authorities to get them the answers they deserved only to end up weeks or months down the line empty-handed. I can only hope that those affected by this crash aren’t getting the same conflicting statements we in the public are getting. They deserve to know they’re getting the whole story.
