Hidalgo County, TX — April 3, 2024, Irene Vera was injured in a car accident at approximately 5:00 p.m. along North 24th Avenue.
According to authorities, 60-year-old Irene Vera was traveling in a southbound Chevrolet Equinox on N. 24th Avenue approaching the W. Ingle Road intersection when the accident took place.
Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, an eastbound Dodge Challenger on Ingle Road failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign, entering the intersection at an apparently unsafe time. This resulted in a collision between the front-left of the Challenger and the front-right side of the Equinox.
Vera suffered reportedly severe injuries as a result of the wreck. She was transported to a local medical facility by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment. No other injuries have been reported. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
