With a house fire, it’s important people don’t just assume the residents did something wrong. I see that far too often when there are other perfectly reasonable explanations to investigate. Was there a defective appliance? Was something installed improperly by a contractor? Was this a rental property with known issues that went unaddressed? Did the fire start outside the home? This can take time to investigate, and the end result may tell a story far less predictable than people may think. That’s why it’s generally best to let the evidence speak for itself.
