Austin, TX — May 6, 2023, Hector Oliva Herrera, Daniela Baltierrez, and two others were injured in a car accident around 5:12 a.m. on I-35 in Austin.
Officials report a Toyota Camry was northbound on I-35 approaching the intersection with W. Howard Lane, while Hector Oliva Herrera’s Dodge Caravan was facing east attempting a left turn to go north on I-35. Additionally, Daniela Baltierrez’s Nissan Altima, a Lexus passenger vehicle, and a Hyundai Sonata were all purportedly facing west and stopped at a red light.
The Camry reportedly ran a red light and collided with Mr. Herrera’s Dodge Caravan as it was turning. The collision allegedly caused the Dodge Caravan to roll over and the Camry to catch fire. The Camry then allegedly collided with Baltierrez’s Altima, which then struck the Lexus car. Authorities report the Camry then hit the Hyundai Sonata.
Officials report the Camry driver suffered possible injuries, Hector Oliva Herrera suffered minor injuries and his passenger suffered serious injuries, and Daniela Baltierrez suffered minor injuries. No other injuries were reported.
