How Did This Accident Occur?

A lot of people assume that single-vehicle accidents only happen when a driver makes a mistake. That’s certainly common, considering possible factors like distracted driving and unsafe speeds. But there can always be extenuating circumstances to consider, and that’s where authorities sometimes come up short. Let me explain what I mean by that.

One of the main reasons families call about serious accidents is they feel authorities aren’t really giving an accident the attention it deserves. Authorities may fail to examine road conditions. They might ignore possible vehicle defects. They might overlook that a driver was unlawfully over-served alcohol by a bar or restaurant. They might lose track of witnesses who saw another reckless driver cause the crash. Likely or not, I’ve seen police investigations miss just about everything that can contribute to a crash.

Naturally, a family seeing that is going to wonder what authorities have missed, and they’ll want someone to step in and take a second look. That second look sometimes shows authorities were thorough behind the scenes and didn’t let anything important get by them. Other times, an independent investigation can catch crucial details that were nearly lost. The point is that families deserve to know they’re getting the full story, and preliminary reports rarely do that on their own.

So, as investigations continue here, it’s important people avoid jumping to conclusions. It’s up to the evidence to say what happened here. If someone thinks this crash would be an exception to that, tell me why in the comments.
