Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
Pool safety is stressed every year in the summer months, but things can become a bit more complex when the conversation is about a public or commercial pool versus a private one. It raises questions about what led to this, whether or not there was enough supervision, whether or not the lifeguards have proper training, and even whether there are issues with the physical layout of this water park that could block certain lines of sight or make it more difficult to see someone in distress.
It’s one thing to get answers about an accident that took the life of a child. It’s another thing to find out if there are larger issues that could lead to other incidents in the future. Both need to be in focus as investigations continue.
