How Did This Accident Occur?

I know people will be quick to jump to make assumptions and jump to conclusions about this accident, but the fact is, there still isn’t much publicly known. Honestly, we won’t know more until the investigation is complete. Hopefully authorities are being meticulous and thorough with the investigation, not simply looking at the surface of the scene and making quick assumptions, themselves.

Having analyzed hundreds of pedestrian involved accidents over the years, there are several questions I’m very curious about, myself. The accident occurred at night. What was the state of the driver? Were they distracted? Possibly fatigued or impaired? What about the environment? What were the weather and road conditions like in the area? Was there a sufficient amount of road lighting? And then there is the vehicle. Did it have any kind of pedestrian detection systems that might have failed at a critical time? Were the headlights functioning properly? How were the brakes? Was there a brake malfunction that made it so it could not stop in time to avoid a collision? Let me know in a comment if you have any questions to add.

Hopefully, the authorities put in the time and effort necessary to get all of these questions answered, and then some. However, if they fail to appropriately cover all the bases, then a third party investigation might be advisable. After all, the people left behind by Mr. Granados deserve to have the the whole picture backed by solid facts, not assumptions and excuses that leave wholes and gaps in their understanding.
