UPDATE (June 22, 2023): Recent information from authorities identified the other victim killed in the accident as 75-year-old Lavonne Bates.
Comal County, TX — May 25, 2023, Gregory Brobston and a woman were killed and Darlene Brobston and three others were hurt in a car accident on Highway 46.
According to initial statements from authorities, the crash happened at around 9:44 p.m. in the area of Highway 46 and Harrison Road.
Initial statements said that 67-year-old Gregory Brobston was driving a Toyota 4Runner northbound along the highway. Also in that vehicle was 62-year-old Darlene Brobston, a 75-year-old woman, a 75-year-old man, and a 15-year-old girl.
As their vehicle rounded a curve, police say that a southbound pickup entered their lane, crashing head-on into Brobston’s vehicle. As a result of this collision, Gregory Brobston and the 75-year-old woman in his vehicle sustained fatal injuries. Darlene Brobston, the unidentified man, and the teen girl all had injuries described as incapacitating. The driver of the pickup also reportedly had incapacitating injuries.
Most recent information from authorities indicates that they believe the pickup driver may have been drinking prior to the crash. This and other possibilities remain unconfirmed.
