Washington County, TX — December 20, 2024, Gorey Burns was injured as the result of a car accident at around 5:34 p.m. along Highway 36.
Preliminary information released about the accident says that the crash occurred along TX-36 a few miles northwest of Brenham.
According to officials, 59-year-old Gorey Burns was in a Toyota Corolla traveling northbound along the highway. Another vehicle apparently failed to pass safely, resulting in an accident. Gorey Burns had serious injuries as a result.
Details about the other driver are unavailable right now, and authorities didn’t mention any pending charges.

authorities weren’t clear on whether or not the second driver involved here remained at the scene. If they didn’t, it would be encouraging to see them release more information about the suspect driver. Someone may be able to connect the dots and ID that person so they can answer for their involvement in the crash. Otherwise, there may be nearby homes or businesses that caught the crash on video. It would surprise folks how often authorities overlooked that kind of evidence, as obvious as it may seem. Sometimes, it takes independent investigations to finally make some progress and ensure an accident like this gets the resolution it deserves.
