I can’t help but wonder what more there could be to the story. It stands out to me how the victim was apparently seriously injured, but I don’t see much information to suggest this was a severe accident. I only bring this up because that’s sometimes a sign there was a defect with the vehicle the victim may not have been aware of.
For example, a colleague and I were discussing a crash where a woman crashed with a semi-truck while texting and driving. Authorities didn’t pay much mind to the crash since they felt the cause was obvious. Well, further investigations noted that the woman had unusually serious injuries given the relatively low-intensity of the collision. So what went wrong? Well, independent investigators were able to determine she had a defective airbag. So regardless of what caused the crash, the defect was the actual cause of her injuries.
I’m not suggesting that happened here—in fact, that sort of thing is pretty unusual. But I’ve always said it’s best to be thorough and ensure nothing slips through the cracks. I don’t see any reason why this crash would be an exception to that.
