Odessa, TX — March 19, 2023, Gilbert Talamantes Jr. and another person were injured after a single-vehicle accident on 100th Street.
Investigators said that the incident happened just before 12:30 a.m. along 100th Street in the area of Andrews Highway.
It appears that 24-year-old Gilbert Talamantes Jr. and another person were in a Dodge Ram going eastbound along East 100th. For reasons unconfirmed, the vehicle ran off-road where it crashed outside of a residence.
Talamantes and the other occupant of the vehicle had reportedly incapacitating injuries. No further information about the crash can be confirmed at this time.

When it comes to single-vehicle wrecks, folks don’t always appreciate just how much can go wrong without drivers actually being able to avoid losing control. Things relating to driver error are certainly common, but that doesn’t warrant overlooking other less likely possibilities without clear evidence. My concern in these situations, though, is whether or not authorities understand this and are able to take the necessary steps to ensure nothing important slips through the cracks. It remains to be seen how their efforts panned out here.
