Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

Currently, authorities allege that intoxication was a factor in the accident. What I haven’t seen, though, is if authorities suspect alcohol or drugs. Believe it or not, this makes a significant difference in the avenues available to those harmed in the crash. This is due to alcohol providers being responsible when an accident happens due to the intoxication of someone they unlawfully over-served. While a lot of people understandably put all of their focus on the drivers in these situations, there could be a bar, restaurant, or liquor store who broke the law and contributed to the crash being let off the hook. Is that something authorities have looked into here, or is there more to this story that has yet to be investigated?
