Abbeville, SC — June 2, 2023, Georgia Hall Ashley was killed following a dump truck accident at around 11:00 a.m. along Haigler Street.
Preliminary details from the South Carolina State highway Patrol say that the crash took place on Haigler, which is on the west side of town just east of Highway 28.
According to initial statements, 81-year-old Georgia Hall Ashley was in a Kia Soul that was traveling eastbound along Haigler. A Chevy dump truck was stopped along the roadway while the driver was apparently picking up “yard debris.” For reasons not yet confirmed, the Kia crashed into the dump truck.
Ashley sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision. The dump truck driver also apparently had injuries, though they weren’t specified. Authorities did not release any additional details about the crash pending their investigations.
