Galveston County, TX — March 18, 2023, George Arness sustained fatal injuries due to an accident where his vehicle and a police vehicle collided in La Marque.
Officials said that the incident happened just after 10:00 p.m. in the area of FM 1764 and FM 2004. Details say that George Arness was in a vehicle with his daughter after going shopping. As they returned, their vehicle was hit by a police vehicle that was apparently responding to possible break in.
Due to the collision, Arness sustained fatal injuries. Arness’s daughter and the officer both had injuries. Right now, details suggest that the officer may not have had their lights or sirens on. This and other details are still under investigation.

I’ve seen in more recent reports that Mr. Arness was the grandfather of a child who also lost their father just weeks after this crash. A family so incredibly devastated by two accidents, not to mention how close together they were, is unthinkable. Authorities should always be thorough in getting people the answers they need, but if there is any situation where that would be more important than it is here, I simply can’t imagine it.
