Accident Report

Randall County, TX — June 6, 2026, Geoffry Zeissel was injured in a car accident at about 1 a.m. in the 13400 block of VFW Road/F.M. 2590 south of Amarillo.

A preliminary accident report indicates that a southbound 2013 Ford Fiesta collided with a northbound 2019 Jeep Wrangler while turning left onto West McCormick Road.

A passenger in the Jeep, 34-year-old Geoffry Zeissel, was seriously injured in the crash, according to the report, while the driver, a 47-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries.

The Ford driver and his passenger were not hurt, the report states, but he was cited for failure to yield after the crash.

Authorities have not released any additional information about the Randall County crash at this time.

How Did This Accident Occur?

The Ford driver reportedly was cited for causing this crash, but that is not the last word on the accident. It is merely the opinion of the first officer on the scene, based on his initial observations. A full investigation could determine there was another cause for this accident.

Maybe the Ford had an issue with its brakes or steering mechanism. Maybe the Ford was speeding as it approached the intersection.

Investigators likely will work to reconstruct this accident by poring over physical evidence, witness statements, data from the vehicles and any available video footage, while cell phone records could show if one of the drivers was texting or interacting with an app at the time.

If authorities suspect a mechanical problem contributed to this crash, a qualified expert should examine the vehicles in a laboratory setting since most law enforcement agencies don’t have the time or training for such inspections, in my experience.

The investigation should provide the injured man and his family with a clear picture of what happened on VFW Road.
