The pending intoxication charge might suggest this is an open-and-shut situation, but the reality is things could be more challenging if the alleged intoxicant here was alcohol.
This is due to the fact alcohol providers can also be responsible for contributing to a serious accident. But when authorities have someone facing charges already, they often move on to other work before getting the rest of the story. I’ve handled hundreds of cases against negligent alcohol providers, and most of those cases went untouched by authorities unless we put the alcohol providers on their radar directly. Could it be that similar details are being overlooked here?
