Cass County, TX — July 21, 2024, Freddie Webb was killed as the result of an ATV accident that happened at around 9:00 p.m. along County Road 3990.
Authorities were called to the area of C.R. 3990 and F.M. 251 northeast of Atlanta, just west of the Arkansas state line.
According to initial details, 75-year-old Fred Webb was operating a Polaris ATV going eastbound on C.R. 3990. For reasons not confirmed right now, the vehicle lost control in the ditch along the side of the road, then flipped over. Webb was thrown from the vehicle and sustained fatal injuries. No one else appeared to have been involved.
Right now, the cause of the crash is unconfirmed.

One thing that always concerns me with accidents like this is that they’re not standard vehicles, so authorities may not be used to handling them. That often means this type of accident isn’t seen as a high priority, so unusual or complex factors can easily slip through the cracks. Hopefully authorities here are taking steps to make sure that doesn’t happen. However, it’s often prudent to actively ensure they’re taking those steps. That way, if they aren’t, the accident can be put in the hands of investigators who will be more thorough.
