Harris County, TX — August 28, 2025, Francisco Montoya Rodriguez was killed as the result of a car accident that happened around 9:30 p.m. on Beaumont Highway.
Preliminary statements from the Harris County Sheriff’s Officie say the accident took place east of Houston at Beaumont Highway and Lankin Road.
Investigators said that Francisco Montoya Rodriguez was on foot at the time an in the eastbound lanes of travel on Beaumont Highway. While there, a GMC Sierra trpoertedly struck Francisco Montoya Rodriguez. Authorities say that Francisco Montoya Rodriguez was taken to a hospital, but his injuries ultimately proved fatal.
It appears the driver remained at the scene and spoke with authorities. No charges have been reported.

Regardless of what all happened here, my hope is authorities took the investigations seriously and considered all possible factors. Pedestrian accidents are often seen as a low priority, so they may not get the attention they deserve, leaving families with unanswered questions. It’s possible that getting answers will require independent investigations, but perhaps authorities will be able to address all concerns and questions adequately so the victim’s loved ones know they’re getting the whole story.
