UPDATE (July 10, 2023): Authorities released new information about the crash, which is currently described as an intoxicated driving incident.

According to DPS officials, 18-year-old Francisca Almaraz and a 17-year-old girl were passengers in a Toyota pickup that was said to be going southbound on the highway. Authorities say the driver of that vehicle was allegedly intoxicated and crashed with an 18-wheeler. As a result, Almaraz was fatally injured while the 17-year-old had injuries described as serious.

The driver of the pickup reportedly faces a charges for Intoxication Manslaughter. Additional details about the accident are pending further investigations.

Brazos County, TX — July 6, 2023, injuries were reported following a commercial truck accident at around 11:00 p.m. along Highway 6.

Officials with the Texas Department of Public Safety indicated that the incident took place in the area of the Highway 6 (U.S. 190) and North Harvey Mitchell Parkway.
