UPDATE (February 6, 2024): The identity of the woman who was injured as a result of this accident has been identified as 49-year-old Maria Muñoz, of Dallas.
Dallas, TX — January 11, 2024, Favian Venegas was killed and another person was injured in a car accident shortly before 11:15 p.m. along West Davis Street.
According to authorities, 33-year-old Favian Venegas was allegedly participating in a street race in a sedan against another vehicle along eastbound West Davis Street in the vicinity of the Chalk Hill Road intersection when the accident took place.
Reports indicate that the sedan failed to safely maintain its lane, crossing over the median and entering the westbound lanes of the road. This resulted in a collision with an oncoming SUV. Venegas reportedly incurred fatal injuries due to the crash. One person who had been an occupant of the SUV was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries sustained due to the accident.
The weather and road conditions in the area were not specifically reported on; however, video of the scene which has been published in the news depicts apparently wet roadways. There is not currently any additional information available pertaining to this incident. The investigation is ongoing.
