Mecca, CA — April 13, 2023, two people were killed and another was injured following a truck accident just before midnight on Highway 86.
Investigators said that the accident happened at approximately 11:52 p.m. in the area of Highway 86 and Avenue 66. The exact circumstances surrounding the crash are currently unavailable.
It appears that a semi-truck and two passenger vehicles collided. This led to one of the cars overturning and catching fire. The truck also overturned, details say.
As a result of the crash, two women involved sustained fatal injuries. One other person was said to be “severely injured.” No other injuries were confirmed.

It could simply be that the crash is complex, and they want to be sure they know all the facts before releasing them. It could also be they’re working behind the scenes to give the victims’ loved ones answers and don’t necessarily care about informing the public.
Sometimes, however, such a lack of information can be a sign that a crash isn’t getting the attention it deserves. It happens more often than it should, especially with complex commercial truck wrecks where lacking the proper experience and equipment can create significant barriers. Hopefully authorities here understand the importance of getting families the answers they deserve and take proper steps to get those answers as soon as possible.
