Alameda County, CA — August 2, 2023, a driver sustained fatal injuries in a big rig accident that happened at around 6:45 a.m. along Interstate 580.

Investigators with the California Highway Patrol were called to the eastbound lanes of the interstate in the area of Greenville Road on the east side of Livermore.

Driver Killed in Truck Accident on I-580 in Livermore, CA

According to preliminary statements, an unidentified man was in a Toyota that had been going eastbound on I-580. For reasons unclear, the vehicle lost control and crashed into the impact attenuator barrels along the right side of the highway. The driver afterward got out of the vehicle and was near it’s rear portion. Somehow, a tractor-trailer crashed into the Toyota, hitting the driver.

As a result of the collision, the driver succumbed to fatal injuries. There were no other reported injuries resulting from the accident. Authorities say that the truck driver stayed at the scene, and there is no mention of any charges or citations at this time. Investigations are ongoing.
