Alachua County, FL — June 14. 2023, a man was killed and a girl was injured after a semi-truck accident early Wednesday on Interstate 75.
Investigators with the Florida Highway Patrol said that the fatal crash took place along northbound lanes of the interstate near mile marker 379.
According to initial details, a 55-year-old man was in a vehicle that was traveling northbound along I-75. Due to a series of events which is currently unclear, that vehicle and a semi-truck collided. Photos published in local news outlets show a blue semi with a white trailer that had significant front-end damage while the back end of another trailer was crushed inward.
Rescue teams were able to extricate victims from the wreckage and transport them to local hospitals. The 55-year-old man was one of those victims, and he succumbed to his injuries. another victim was a 10-year-old girl in the same vehicle, and she had unspecified injuries. No other injuries were reported. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
