Jefferson County, MO — March 12, 2023, one person was killed after an accident where a semi-truck hit them on I-90.
Authorities said that the incident happened at around 6:00 a.m. along the interstate in the Whitehall area. It appears the victim was in a pickup which, for reasons unclear, was stopped in a lane of travel. There, a semi-truck crashed into the pickup. the pickup driver died as a result.

Without more information regarding why the truck was stopped, where it was, and whether or not it was clearly visible, there’s no real way to say for sure what happened here. This could be a situation where a vehicle had no power on a dark highway, and that’s not generally something a truck driver can be expected to avoid. However, it could also turn out to be a situation like one I handled not long ago where video evidence clearly showed a victim’s car was visible, and a truck driver was watching videos on a tablet instead of watching the road. I don’t have any particular reason to suspect that happened here, but without knowing the whole story, there are all kinds of possibilities worth considering if the victim’s loved ones are going to get the answers they deserve.
