Union City, NJ — April 8, 2023, one person was killed due to an accident where a scooter and a truck collided along Route 495 in the North Bergen area.
Investigators said that the incident happened at around 3:45 p.m. between John F. Kennedy Boulevard and 32nd Street. Details suggest that a person was riding a motorized scooter and attempting to merge onto the highway. While doing so, the scooter collided with a fuel truck.

The scooter rider died as a result of the crash. Authorities did not release additional details about the accident.

One thing I hope for is that they’re being more thorough behind the scenes. I’m always worried when it comes to less typical vehicles like a scooter because I’ve seen many times where people are quick to blame the victim without actually knowing what happened.
But if they’re at all inclined to give someone the benefit of the doubt when they’re in a 4-wheeler, they should be able to extend equal prudence to other drivers until all the facts are clear. I don’t see why this incident would be an exception to that.
