Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

With a residential fire like this, people often jump to conclusions. The immediate assumption tends to be that the resident did something wrong. That’s possible, of course, but other possibilities should be considered. Did an appliance malfunction? Was something installed or repaired improperly? Was there a gas leak? Is this a rental property that wasn’t maintained well? Likely or not, all factors need to be ruled out if for no other reason than to ensure the victim’s loved ones are getting clear answers.
