Houston, TX — May 13, 2023, Farhana Begum was injured following an alleged intoxicated driving accident at 1:21 a.m. on the Gulf Freeway.
Authorities released information which suggests the collision happened in the area of northbound I-45 at Lockwood.
According to officials, 42-year-old Farhana Begum, 50-year-old Aqmjahangir Siddique, and a 10-year-old child were in a Hyundai Sonata that was going northbound along the interstate. It appears there was another driver traveling the wrong direction along northbound lanes, and the two vehicles collided head-on. Two other vehicles then crashed in a chain reaction.
Due to the collision, the 10-year-old child in the Sonata had apparently incapacitating injuries. Begum’s injuries were not specified. Through their investigations, Harris County officials allege that the driver of the wrong-way vehicle was under the influence of alcohol. There appear to be pending charges for intoxication assault.
