Lafayette County, WI — June 19, 2023, Fannie King was killed and Samuel King was injured following a buggy versus truck accident at 3:09 a.m. along Highway 81.
Preliminary information about the accident says that it took place in the area of the Highway 81 and Burke Road intersection.
Officials said that 30-year-old Samuel King and 19-year-old Fannie King were a horse-drawn buggy that was going eastbound along the side of the highway. For reasons which are not entirely clear, a semi-truck that was also going eastbound did not avoid the buggy, crashing into it.
As a result of the collision, Fannie King succumbed to fatal injuries. Samuel King was taken to a hospital with injuries said to be serious. No other injuries were reported. At this time, circumstances surrounding the collision are still under investigation.
