No other injuries were reported.

How Did This Accident Occur?
Authorities contend a semi-truck caused this crash by knocking another eastbound vehicle into a SUV, so the question authorities must answer is why. Was the truck driver distracted, perhaps by a cell phone? Did he change lanes without looking to make sure it was safe? Did the truck have an issue with its throttle or steering mechanism?
I don’t claim to know the answer to these questions, even though I’ve been involved in looking into commercial vehicle accidents for more than three decades, but the investigation should yield the information needed to provide a clear picture of what happened on I-90.
Physical evidence, witness statements, data from the vehicles and any available video footage should help authorities piece together events that led to the crash, while cell phone records could show what each driver was doing at the time.
If investigators suspect a mechanical problem contributed to the crash, the vehicles should be examined by a qualified expert in a laboratory setting. Most law enforcement agencies don’t have the time or training for that kind of inspection, but the Toyota driver’s family deserves to know as much as possible about what caused this accident.
