Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

After any fatal work accident, it’s prudent to make sure there are more thorough and prompt investigations than a simple OSHA report. Simply put, OSHA has their own priorities, and those don’t always align with the needs of a worker’s family. And in Texas, there isn’t always a process automatically in place to get those families benefits. This creates a legal maze that’s more complex than work accident law in any other state in the country. It’s important families have the tools and allies to navigate that maze, which is why there could be a lot more to this situation than an OSHA summary could possibly address on its own.
