UPDATE (May 2, 2024): Recent reports have been released regarding this incident which clarify the fact that 48-year-old Melissa Luevano—who had been a passenger in the Chevrolet Tahoe involved in this accident—also sustained moderate injuries as a result. The investigation continues.
Gaines County, TX — April 10, 2024, Eric Luevano was killed and Ever Montes was injured in a car accident at approximately 10:20 p.m. along U.S. Highway 62.
According to authorities, 49-year-old Eric Leuvano was traveling in a southwest bound Chevrolet Tahoe along U.S. 62 approaching the C.R. 109 intersection when the accident occurred.

Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, a northeast bound Dodge Ram 1500 occupied by 23-year-old Ever Montes attempted a left turn onto C.R. 109 at an apparently unsafe time, failing to yield the right of way to southwest bound traffic. This resulted in a collision between the two vehicles in the intersection.
Luevano incurred reportedly critical injuries due to the wreck and was transported to a local hospital by EMS in order to receive immediate treatment. However, he was ultimately unable to overcome the extent of his injuries, having there been declared deceased. Montes incurred apparently minor injuries, as well.
Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
